What is the IELTS Speaking Test?
The IELTS Speaking Test is one of the four sections of the IELTS exam. It is designed to evaluate your spoken-English skills, which include your pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary. What is a Cue Card in IELTS Speaking?
In general, a cue card is a card with words written on it to help us remember what we need to say. It is called a ‘cue’ card because if we are at a loss, we may look at it from time to time to guide us as we finish whatever we have to say.
A cue card in IELTS Speaking is the topic card given to you at the start of your IELTS Speaking Task 2. It is a piece of paper where the topic that you have to talk about is written. Once you are handed the cue card, you have to take down notes right away, using the paper and pencil given to you, as you only have one minute to prepare.
Remember that you cannot ask the examiner to change the topic, and you have to talk about that topic regardless of how much or how little you know about it.
